I attribute a lot of my photography learning from Pioneer Woman.
I discovered her blog probably a couple of years ago now and there was no turning back.
She has a confessions section, food (great recipes), home schooling, home/garden, and of course my FAVOURITE section, photography
If you're looking to just look at great photos, here's your website.
If you're looking to win great contests, here's your website.
And if you're looking to learn as much as you can about basic photography....HERE'S YOUR WEBSITE!

Just Because: Samms Family

Since I'm going through almost 2000 images from the Newfoundland wedding, I've decided to post a few photos of the VERY MINI  "Just Because" session I had with the Samms family.
If you recall just 1 year ago I did this post about their awesome wedding.
And now they have the sweetest bundle of joy named Lucas added to their family.
However, Lucas being 7 weeks old was NOT in the mood to have his photo taken on this foggy Newfoundland afternoon.
Despite that, I still managed to get these couple of photos that I love :)
Told you he was just the sweetest
The very proud Mom & Dad
And one of just Mom and baby Lucas
So I'm doing my best to get the Nfld photos up....please be patient...they're WELL worth the wait :)

I can't wait to start sharing...some are amazing. And not just because I took them but because my clients are so freakin' awesome!
But to hold you over until at least next week.....yes I do need a few days to get home, get organized and try to get back on Eastern standard time.....here's a quick teaser from the wedding

Feature Photographer: Simplicity

I love love love Angie of Simplicity Photography
I swear I cannot get over how AWESOME the kids are always dressed in her shoots. Funky, modern, and colourful.
If people ever ask "how should I dress my kids" I often suggest checking out Angie's blog
How she has children pose so perfectly is beyond me. She certainly has a gift that I lack.
A child portrait session will start at $175 for the session and a $400 minimum print order required.
For more info on family packages, weddings, etc.

Just Because: Holly

I'm really not a person who is ever at a loss for words.
I've been told on many occassions I have the "gift of gab" and even call myself a "chatty cathy" but when it comes to Holly I don't even know where to begin.
--------------
I met Holly a couple of years ago and not only has she become a friend, she's one of the few people who has supported my quest to become a photographer from the very beginning.
She has given me random notes and gifts of encouragement at the least expected times but always at the most appropriate times.
She'll talk photography with me for hours...yeah literally.
She's my sounding board when I have my MANY new ideas, some good & some very bad :)
And when she asked if I'd photograph her, in celebration of acheiving her degree, I was more than happy to oblige.
Holly is such a hard worker.....she worked full time, went to school and maintained a very hectic schedule and yet still managed to balance it all.
But at last all the hard work paid off because now she can officially say she has her degree. Congrats!
-----------------------
Another reason I didn't know how to start this blog post is because I had so many favourites
You probably all know by now I'm a sucker for a good wall, fence or post
Or bridges...bridges are cool too
Holly was such a good sport about lying on the green grass in a white shirt. I've been wanting to try some lying down poses for quite a while and she was totally up for the challenge
LOVE this one...I think it's how the wind has blown just that one strand of hair across her face
Yep I can officially say this one is my favourite
And then the fence....c'mon did you think I wouldn't have any fence photos?
And one of Holly and her boyfriend for good measure....
...of course by the fence. Like you even had to ask :)
Holly I had a wonderful time, you were so easy going and relaxed even though I knew you were a bit nervous.
You were a natural....and being so beautiful certainly helps too.
No worries :)
Thank you and not just for the opportunity to photograph you, for everything.

Just Because: Cara & Callie

Cara is a photographers dream.
She sits quietly and poses as instructed. Smiles perfectly and is as still and as patient as I required her to be.
Even at such a young age she already has a beautiful & soft demeanor.
Callie is a sweet & energetic almost two year old little girl, that literally just wants to run.
Running up the hill, running down the hill (she's still figuring out the brakes), running across the grass, and the list goes on. She gave me and my growing belly quite the workout!
But the perfect blend of the two personalities made my Sunday afternoon with these darling girls oh so much fun!
Look at those dimples
And then the pig tails
He, he, he....Callie is too cute
Did you think I was bluffing when I said that Cara poses "perfectly"
But wait, it gets better.....
Yep, you saw her here first folks, Canada's future Next Top Model.
Love it!
And to finish off the sneak peek, another of Callie. This is my fav of her :)
To Cara & Callie's Mom.....
I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to your daughters, I'm sure they have made life a little bit sweeter for anyone who has met them :)
They have given me a true taste of what motherhood will be like and because of that I am even more excited to take on my own similar adventure.
To Cara & Callie...
Keep being you!

Dingbat Press

Since I was a little girl I have loved pens & paper. I loved colouring for hours.
Even now I love paper lists. And not the kind you type up on the computer.
I love sitting down with a notepad, a pen and physically writing a grocery list, a to-do list, notes, thank you cards, etc, etc, etc....I think you get the idea.
It could also explain why I love stationary, business cards, gift tags, even scrapbooking so much.
I just love paper with pretty designs.
That being said, I follow a blog call Dingbat Press
I follow the blog and I also enter contests on the blog.....and I'm happy to announce that I won!
I won these gifttags/enclosures
Aspen Trees

These lovely red enclosures
And my favourite, these pretty blue lace ones with brown envelopes

If you're looking for stationary for ANY reason, for your business, recipe cards for your kitchen, cute baby announcement cards, thank you cards, anything...please check out the Dingbat Website by clicking HERE
For pre-made items, check the Etsy store HERE

And for more give-aways check the blog by clicking HERE
Thanks again Adrienne, I cannot wait to receive my gift. I'm so excited :)

Calendar is Full :)

I cannot thank you enough for the AWESOME response I've had this summer.
That being said my schedule is pretty much FULL.
I have a few evening shoots available at 7pm.
-----------------------
I can possibly take ONE evening shoot this week (this is still up in the air since I possibly have a couple of tentative bookings, so get in touch if you seriously want it)
I have ONE evening shoot available the week of July 27th-30th (Friday evening of that week is not available since it's the long weekend)
I have ONE evening shoot available between the dates of August 4th-6th
ONE evening shoot available Friday August 7th
And Sunday - August 9th is still open where I have morning, afternoon & evening available.
And before going on maternity leave I can possibly squeeze in ONE evening shoot between August 10th-13th
-----------------------
I'd like to stress that some of these dates might not be available since I am pregnant and I have mid wives appointments and so on to attend too.
Otherwise I'm now booking for summer 2010
It feels so good to be able to say that :)
Rates will be going up in 2010 but if you book now for next summer 2009 rates will be honoured
----------------------
I hope you're enjoying your summer so far and stay tuned....because I'm SO booked that means lot of new photos coming soon!

Feature Photographer: Jamie Delaine

Jamie Delaine is a young Wedding photographer out of Vancouver, BC
Yep I'm featuring another Canadian :)
I discovered Jamie Delaine when her website was a featured "Show it website"
Click HERE to check out her website
Not only do I love Jamie's style of photography, but her blog is sweet and full of energy.
This summer she's hosting a 1 week internship for 4 lucky girls who's hoping to get into the industry.
Why didn't I apply? For a number of reasons....one I'll be on the other side of the country the week of the internship. Secondly I didn't qualify (you had to be between 17-25) sadly I discovered I want to be a wedding photographer at too late of an age.....LOL.
But Jamie, if you're reading this and want to share your knowledge sometime. I'm all ears :)
If you're interested in booking Jamie, her info is as follows
Portrait session will start at $250 & include:
$100 credit towards an album or prints
Weddings start at $3600 & include:
 - engagement session
7+ hours of wedding day coverage by two photographers
-album credit
Check her out!
Happy July 4th to my American friends, have a great weekend everyone!

Engaged: Natasha & Foster

It's a quiet love that they share.
The soft spoken, whispering kind.
Natasha & Foster have a love that's genuine, sincere and sweet.
Love the garage doors!
Natasha has THE MOST AMAZING green eyes....seriously!
This one is my favourite from the session
Bring it in tight :)
Natasha & Foster....I was honoured to photograph your engagement photos.

Witnessing the two of you was a breath of fresh air and a gentle reminder of quiet pleasures. Thank You!
